Safety Guidelines

Last updated: October 2026

Just Another Chance works because people trust each other with small, hopeful stories. These guidelines keep it that way.

Write with kindness

  • Describe the moment, not a verdict. No shaming, mocking, or outing anyone.
  • Only post about encounters that actually happened to you.
  • Never post about someone who said no, left, or asked to be left alone.
  • No sexual explicitness, slurs, threats, or harassment of any kind.

Protect everyone's privacy

  • Don't include phone numbers, email addresses, social handles, last names, or workplace details in a public post — the other person didn't choose to be found.
  • New posts are scanned for identifying details; moderators can redact flagged items before they stay up.
  • Never share someone else's contact details, even in a reply.

Messaging and meeting up

  • Private messages stay between participants — keep them respectful.
  • Move at the other person's pace; a no or no reply is an answer.
  • If you decide to meet, do it in a public place and tell a friend where you're going.

Report and block

Every post, reply, and conversation has a report option. Moderators review reports privately and remove content or accounts that break the rules. You can also block any member — blocking stops them from messaging you and hides the conversation from both inboxes.

What gets removed

  • Harassment, threats, hate speech, and impersonation.
  • Content targeting a person who asked to be left alone.
  • Spam, advertising, and scam attempts.
  • Anything illegal or that puts someone at risk.
